A Mission Born From Experience

A Contagious Smile was built on a simple but powerful belief: people heal best when they feel seen, heard, valued, and supported.

A Contagious Smile was never supposed to be an organization.

It was supposed to be proof. Proof that what happened to you does not get to decide who you become. Proof that even after trauma, loss, heartbreak, abuse, grief, illness, setbacks, and unimaginable challenges, a meaningful life is still possible.

Proof that survival is not the end of the story. For years, we watched people carry burdens that no one else could see. Survivors questioning their worth. Caregivers pouring from empty cups. Families fighting battles behind closed doors. Individuals smiling on the outside while quietly struggling to make it through another day. The world often tells people to be strong. To move on. To get over it.

To keep going.

What it rarely tells them is that they should never have had to carry it alone in the first place. That is why A Contagious Smile exists.

Not to tell people how to heal. Not to pretend we have all the answers. Not to offer empty promises. But to create something many people struggle to find when they need it most: a place where they feel seen, heard, valued, supported, and understood.

What began as one person's determination to transform pain into purpose has grown into an award-winning organization dedicated to advocacy, education, peer support, community, and hope. Through resources, scholarships, podcasts, educational programs, our award-winning Academy, and meaningful human connection, we continue to remind people of something they may have forgotten:

They matter. Their story matters. Their life matters. And no matter how difficult the road has been, they do not have to walk the rest of it alone. Because at the heart of A Contagious Smile is a simple truth: The most contagious thing in the world is not a smile.

It is hope.

The Woman Behind The Mission

There was a time when Victoria Cuore was fighting for her life while carrying another. Pregnant, terrified, and navigating abuse, trauma, and circumstances that no person should ever have to face alone, she found herself standing in a place she knows many people understand all too well: a place where fear was louder than hope, where the future felt uncertain, and where simply making it through another day required more strength than anyone could see.

What Victoria remembers most from those years is not the fear. It is the loneliness. The feeling of carrying unbearable weight while the world continued moving around her. The feeling of needing someone to understand. Someone to believe her. Someone to tell her she was not alone. Someone to remind her that her life still mattered. She survived. But survival changed her.Because once you know what it feels like to sit in the darkness, you never look at another struggling person the same way again.

A Contagious Smile was born from a promise. A promise that if she found her way through the hardest chapters of her own story, she would spend the rest of her life helping others through theirs. Not because she had all the answers. Not because she could take away their pain. But because she understood something many people never do: The right words can save a life. Being believed can change a life.

Feeling seen can change a life. Knowing you are not alone can change everything. Today, that promise lives on through every conversation, every resource, every scholarship, every podcast, every program, every act of advocacy, and every person who finds their way to A Contagious Smile searching for hope.

More than twenty years later, the mission remains the same as it was on the day it began: To be the person she once needed.

And to make sure no one facing life's hardest moments has to face them alone.

Recognized Around the World. Grounded in Purpose.

The measure of our work has never been the awards on a wall, the magazine covers on a shelf, or the headlines attached to our name.

It has always been the lives behind them. The survivor who found hope when they thought they had none left. The caregiver who finally felt seen after years of carrying everything alone. The family that discovered support in the middle of overwhelming circumstances.

The person who realized their story was not over. Over the years, that commitment to serving others has grown into an internationally recognized movement for hope, healing, advocacy, education, and empowerment.

Today, A Contagious Smile and A Contagious Smile Academy have been honored with multiple national and international awards and have been featured in more than 250 publications, including USA Today, Women's Weekly, Fox, NBC, ABC, and other respected media outlets. Through more than 500 interviews, podcasts, articles, speaking engagements, and educational programs, our message has reached people across communities, industries, and continents.

These milestones are meaningful, not because they recognize our work, but because they reflect the impact of the people we have been privileged to serve. Every award tells a story. Every article represents a conversation. Every interview creates an opportunity for someone to feel less alone.

And every recognition reminds us that the mission remains as important today as it was when it began. To help people feel seen. To help people feel heard. To help people feel valued. To help people feel supported. Because while the world may recognize the work, the work has always been about people.
